Shinjiro Ohtani vs Eddie Kingston
White Eagle Hall, Jersey City, New Jersey, United States
(reviewed 04/13/2019) Pretty good, with all the problems you’d predict. As much as I love Kingston he has a habit of giving guys he likes way too much, allowing them to eat him alive when he’s usually good about making his matches feel like knock-down, drag-out fights. Even if it’s completely warranted for someone like Ohtani to steamroll him at points it prevents this from being the slobberknocker you’d want, as does Ohtani’s age. Thankfully this is still lots of fun. Both dudes are scrappy as hell and make sure to sell and play to the crowd enough to make that scrappiness stand out even in a sub-10 minute midcard match. If you’re at all the sort of person who likes the sound of this match, give it a go because it’ll probably do you good.
