(reviewed 01/02/2018) It wouldn’t be fair to call this a carryjob but god, what a great example of how Thatcher was able to bring the best out of underachieving folks in 2018. I like Grimm well enough but largely I haven’t seen him display much in the way of edge or intensity thus far in his second indie run. He’s certainly not bad in this match outside of a few weak uppercuts, but it’s really only through Thatcher’s stellar selling that Grimm looks vicious or capable of going toe to toe with wrestling’s finest. Whether it’s by giving him good openings on the mat or buckling beneath his well-placed strikes, Thatcher’s reactions do this match wonders and serve as a fitting end to a great year of his career.
