Yuji Okabayashi & Shingo Takagi vs Hideki Suzuki & Shogun Okamoto – BJW Sapporo 2 Battles Day 2

Yuji Okabayashi & Shingo Takagi vs Hideki Suzuki & Shogun Okamoto

Saikyo Tag League 2017 Strong Block Match

10/08/2017

Susukino Mars Gym, Sapporo, Japan

(reviewed 10/24/2017) This match… sort of rules? Not that high up on the scale of things that rule, smack dab between Hall & Oates’ “Private Eyes” and the feeling of standing in the sand as the tide rolls in, but it still makes the list all the same. Hideki’s great here as this guy who can match Shingo and Okabayashi blow for blow while also being a technical threat. Shingo’s also great, getting to stretch his legs against a fresh pair of opponents. I’ve never loved Shogun but dig him a lot here as a lesser Don Fujii for Shingo to tee off on. And that leaves Okabayashi, and if Okabayashi’s giving the worst performance in your match you know you’ve got something good going.
