Rickey Shane Page vs Jimmy Havoc vs John Wayne Murdoch
Pain in the Glass Match and Tournament of Death 16 First Round Match
Ebenezer Church Road, Townsend, Delaware, United States
(reviewed 09/22/2017) I guess you could say this match is less than the sum of its parts but I’m not totally sure if that’s fair to say. Sure, it starts real awkwardly and without any real direction but as the match goes on they hone that directionless nature into something that feels more wild than meandering, which is what you’re looking for in these sorts of matches. It’s still a little unpolished from time to time, which I’d attribute mostly to varying levels of familiarity between these men and a bit of a clash of styles, but once they really get going it’s quite good. The highlight, unsurprisingly, is Havoc’s general demeanor, and especially his vehement opposition to being anywhere near the top rope Canadian Destroyer through a pane of glass that ends up being the finish as he sneaks in, tosses Murdoch out after he hits his big move, and pins Rickey. Fun stuff.
