CIMA vs Takehiro Yamamura
King of Gate 2017 Block C Match
Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan
(reviewed 09/13/2017) AWWW SHIT MORE YAMAMURA SINGLES MATCHES, YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH. He adds a new wrinkle to his strategy with this match as he goes after CIMA’s brace-laden knee on top of his usual “overwhelm with speed” game plan. CIMA’s been wrestling about as long as Yamamura’s been alive, I think, so he’s still got plenty of tricks up his sleeve to counteract the youngster, but a few choice mistakes and lots of quick thinking from Yamamura keep this interesting and heated. In the end, CIMA misses one of his big signature knee drops off the top and Yamamura capitalizes with a knee lock. CIMA responds by slapping at Yamamura’s ass and it sort of looks like he’s trying to escape, trying a last, goofy effort to free himself from the hold, but quickly you realize he’s actually tapping and the match is over and wow Yamamura beat CIMA what the fuck. He towers over CIMA for a few moments after the match, bent over, staring him down as Gamma, Dragon Kid, and the referee all check on CIMA and it’s a great moment. For a few seconds it looks like Yamamura’s about to cry but quickly that fades away into triumph as his eyes lift to meet the crowd and his hand is raised. Great stuff here. Short and oh so sweet.
