Penta el Zero M (c) vs Keith Lee
AAW Heritage Championship
Logan Square Auditorium, Chicago, Illinois, United States
(reviewed 08/05/2017) This is sort of a weird matchup in that both of these men are very much reliant on charisma and aura but in very, very different ways. That weirdness is reflected in the content of this match, which is primarily made up of taunting, posing, playing to the crowd, and comedy. And, like, it’s a lot of fun! They play with the size difference between them and their larger-than-life personalities and manage to squeeze in some quality wrestling in between all those “CERO MIEDO” and “BASK IN MY GLORY” taunts. Keith is especially great here, with impeccable selling and feeding. Like, watch the difference in the way he moves in between the multiple Sling Blades early in the match and the subsequent kick attempt from Pentagon. It’s great stuff. There’s a lot of that sort of thing from him here and it helps to make up for some of Pentagon’s goofier habits, such as the Canadian Destroyer finish. You can’t win ‘em all, but you can at least make goofy moves look good.
