Minoru Suzuki vs SANADA – NJPW G1 Climax 27 Day 4

Minoru Suzuki vs SANADA

G1 Climax 2017 Block B Match

Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan

(reviewed 07/23/2017) At its worst it was pretty convoluted, but this was a fun match, I think. SANADA’s weak striking, his awkward transition back into W-1 era ace style, and interference spots were the worst parts of this, but thankfully those problems mostly disappeared as the match really got going. Suzuki, per usual, was great here and held the whole thing together with his aura and execution, but once he got his heart rate up, SANADA’s highflying here was quite good as well and something I wouldn’t mind seeing more of in coming months. After feeling uneasy about it in the beginning, this match drew me in by the end and topped it all off with a great-looking Gotch style piledriver.
