Koji Kanemoto vs Timothy Thatcher – wXw 16 Carat Gold 2017 Day 1

Koji Kanemoto vs Timothy Thatcher

16 Carat Gold Tournament 2017 First Round

03/10/2017

Turbinenhalle, Oberhausen, Germany

(reviewed 03/16/2017) Dream matches tend to disappoint. Rarely do we see two or more performers in their prime click in a first-time meeting in a match that meets or exceeds expectations. That sort of thing is very rare, and it didn’t happen in this match. Kanemoto is about twenty years past his prime at this point. He certainly still has it in him to pull out good to great matches, but in this first match of his European vacation, he’s clearly pulling punches. It stinks because, on paper, this could be an incredible match, a truly awesome meeting of two greats. But in the end, it’s just fairly enjoyable and a neat matchup, which is far from bad, but still in the realm of disappointing.
