Satoshi Kojima vs Toru Yano
New Japan Cup 2016 Second Round Match
Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan
(reviewed 05/25/2016) While one camera is focused on YOSHI-HASHI at the commentary table before this match, someone comes up and starts cleaning the camera lens on the air. Get your shit together, NJPW equivalent of Kevin Dunn. While brawling on the outside, Yano hits Kojima with a chair and, once again, there’s no disqualification. Get your shit together, too, NJPW equivalent of John Cone. Anywho, as expected, this is another fun, bite-sized Yano match. Kojima does his shtick and the crowd digs it (plus he has probably my favorite sell of a lowblow ever that doesn’t come from friend of the blog Kaden Talbain). Yano is charismatic and pulls out a flukey but clean win against a veritable legend. I’m happy, you’re happy, the crowd’s happy, everybody’s happy.
