Cerberus (c) (Ilja Dragunov & Julian Nero) (c) vs The Sumerian Death Squad (Tommy End & Michael Dante)
wXw World Tag Team Championship
Markthalle, Hamburg, Germany
(reviewed 01/08/2017) Solid little tag match here, which is hardly surprising considering the participants. Everyone here is mechanically great and/or good at staying in their lane, so this is a professional, action-packed, crowd-pleasing tag title bout that hits all the right notes and manages to be enjoyable without lighting the world on fire. The crowd certainly thinks that they’re singeing the world at the very least, which helps. SDS hit their big tag finishers in pretty ferocious fashion on Dragunov, having the match seemingly won before Nero drags the referee out of the ring and takes him out. As the challengers check on the ref, Nero takes out Dante and whispers to his partner to keep selling before tossing one of the tag belts to End, who is caught by the referee with it for the disqualification finish. Very good stuff here, well worth ten minutes of your time if you’re planning on watch this show.
