Hechicero, YOSHI-HASHI, Bobby Z, & Okumura vs KUSHIDA, Fuego, Tiger Mask IV, & Stuka Jr
Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan
(reviewed live) I’m basically only watching this for YOSHI-HASHI, Hechicero, and KUSHIDA, though these Fantasticamania matches are almost always enjoyable. KUSHIDA comes out with a Stuka mask and cowboy hat, which is pretty cute. Tiger Mask does not participate in the activities, because he hates joy. KUSHIDA and Stuka bring two women from the crowd into the ring and dance with them, and like, what the fuck, can this just be the whole match? I love this. Once everyone is out, YOSHI-HASHI is looking around like, “man, it’s weird not being the dumbest-looking guy in the ring”. KUSHIDA and Hechicero start things off and have a fantastic little sequence, and fuck me, I want more from them. Mima Shimoda, former joshi wrestler and Okumura’s wife, sweeps out Fuego’s leg and gets a ton of heat, which is great. I get a bit more KUSHIDA vs Hechicero, and it’s great, but I want MORE. Shimoda runs in the ring again and takes a double suplex from Stuka and KUSHIDA onto her husband, and the crowd loves it. They lay her next to her husband and go up top, appearing to go for top rope moves to the two laying in the ring, but they instead dive out onto their opponents on the floor in a cool spot. Fuego is on fire here (hehehehehe) in a sequence with Bobby Z, flying around and being awesome. Shimoda again gets involved and is spinebustered next to her husband by TMIV, and Stuka splashes them both (the crowd explodes) for the finish. Fun fun fun fun fun stuff. Wish every New Japan show was this fun.
