(reviewed 01/03/2017) I remember thinking this was one of the best LU matches in weeks when I first watched this, but that doesn’t mean a lot these days, sadly. Still, this should be fun stuff, as it’s twelve personalities interacting and doing some big dumb spots in the process. Initially, Chavo Guerrero Jr was in this match, but Pentagon Jr made his return just before the match started and broke his arm to take his spot. Everyone tags in and gets a minute to do their thing, and while most of it is the same ol’ same ol’, and while it’s made worse by some bad Matt Striker commentary, the aforementioned personalities interacting is what makes it, and the quality spots here are still quality. Additionally, the crowd here is a lot hotter than usual, which certainly helps. Cuerno’s always lovely Arrow from the Depths of Hell sends Texano into a group of Marines in the front row, kicking off a string of dives from just about everyone in the match. Mundo yanks Rey out of the ring when the veteran goes for a dive, getting some good heat, and he poses in the middle of the ring. As he does so, a quick drumbeat DUN DUN sounds, obviously a bit of post-production that is super goofy but totally works, at least in this isolated incidence. After Puma takes out his rival, Rey gets his revenge on Mundo with a 619, but when Puma goes for a move off the top, Mundo kicks Rey into his young protege, allowing Mundo to hit the Spanish fly off the top rope for the win. That finish was so much more sudden and abrupt than I recall it being, and the match in general was much shorter. Still, it’s a lot of fun, a little bite-sized cibernetico of sorts, which is a match type I always enjoy. It won’t rock your socks off, but this should be a match that entertains you all the same.
